I have just stummbled across a YouTube video of Monday's Kings Head Canter 5K race. It provides a good description of the event, such as the course, the logistics with the course being point-to-point, the atmosphere, and the overall quality. Click HERE to view the video.
Another great day with loads of friendly cheerful runners giving their best on the undulating route from Chiddingly to the finish at the Kings Head Pub in East Hoathly, where they received their well deserved complimentary drink courtesy of the Kings Head Pub.

Thanks to all of the volunteers from East Hoathly and Halland Carnival Society for making sure the event went smoothly. Thanks to The Kings Head Pub, East Hoathly, and The Jog Shop, Brighton for supporting the race. And lastly, thanks to all of the runners that came along to run our village 5K race. This year was the 28th edition of the Kings Head Canter, and as with every year, there was such a great supportive atmosphere amongst all of the participants, of all ages and abilities, including some of the top runners within Sussex, as well as the 'once a year' runners.
The Kings Head Canter 5k has such a good tradition. It was pleasing to read on one runner's strava run today, with it being referred to as a "classic race". We look forward to welcoming you back next year on the August Bank Holiday Monday.

This year, at 11:00am on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August 2026, will be the 28th running of the Kings Head Canter 5K, since the first Kings Head Canter 5K took place way back in 1998! In total there have been 5633 runners enjoy the great atmosphere of this well organised event, complete with a free drink at the finish. Click the "Entry Form" tab on the left to ENTER.
The 4980 metre point to point course is a SEAA measured undulating rural course with an overall climb of 20 metres, starting in Chiddingly and finishing in East Hoathly.
The Jog Shop, Brighton vouchers and Kings Head Canter unique trophies for first three finishers in the following categories: Male, Female, and Over 40 Age Graded. (Age Graded %. Click here to find out more about the Age Graded % )
Village Team Event. There is a 3 person team competition for people that either live, work or play in East Hoathly. Teams can be made from: an East Hoathly street, a club or business team, or simply a team of friends and family. No matter what age, the result is calculated using Age Graded %.
The Kings Head Canter 5K is organised by the East Hoathly and Halland Carnival Society. Any money raised from the race is used to help organise the spectacular Carnival that takes place in November each year. An event well worth attending!
