Kings Head Canter 1998 Finish

Race Finish (1998) at East Hoathly

Congratulations to all runners at the 2025 Kings Head Canter 5K. This year was the 27th edition of the race, and it was the highest numbers of participants ever, with 286, beating the previous highest of 274 in 2023, which was our 25th anniversary year.

At the front of the field, Max Walker from East Hoathly / Army AA won for the third year in a row in the very quick time for the undulating 5K route of 15:09. Only 11 seconds off Kevin Moore's record of 14:48, set in 2019. Looking at the results "webpage, which lists all of the winners for all of the years since 1998, as well as there being links to all of the previous years' official results, it indicates that Max's finish time is the 3rd fastest winning time.

Women's winner Milly Dickinson's (Brighton Phoenix) time of 17:48, was also pretty quick with it being our fastest winning time since 2017. There were some outstanding performances throughout the field, with special mention to the Over 40 Age-Graded Percentage Winner Geraldine Moffat (Brighton & Hove City AC, W60-64 Age category) achieving an amazing 97.1%, with her finish time of 19:19. Also a special mention to East Hoathly resident David Dobbs, who is a regular participant, first running in 2006 , where he set his PB time of 35:51, then aged 65. His times have gradually slowed over the last 19 years, and this year for the first time he missed going under the hour. But David, (bottom photo below), is setting a great example in that even though one may get a little slower as the years progress, it is the participating that really counts, which is well worth celebrating!
